Commissioners honor outgoing planning director, reappoint JCPC member; public commenter raises school‑capacity concern

During the public comment period, resident John Maziak, who identified himself as a Woodlake resident, said a new housing development in Vass (phase 1: 149 units; phase 2: 36 apartments) combined with annual growth in Woodlake (he estimated 35–45 homes per year) has put Vass Lakeview Elementary "at capacity," and asked whether commissioners hold joint meetings with incorporated municipalities and the Board of Education to coordinate development and county planning. No school officials responded at the meeting; the comment was noted for the record.
Commissioners used the opportunity for general remarks and thanked staff and committee members for work on the county land use plan.
