Staff said the parcels total about 4.4 acres, front Elizabeth Road, and include existing single‑family and manufactured homes that staff described as uninhabitable and planned to be removed after purchase. The parcels’ identifiers were read into the record; the county will pay $85,000 for the acquisition plus incidental closing costs, with funds to come from the property management budget line for building improvements.
After acquisition, staff said the county would likely combine the four parcels into one, clear the structures, and possibly erect fencing. A commissioner praised the purchase as reasonable and said the acquisition advances county park planning in areas north of Carthage. The board moved, seconded and approved the purchase and authorized the chairman or county manager to sign necessary documents.
