Southern Pines, N.C. — The council honored outgoing member Brandon Goodman for his service, presented him a plaque, and then conducted oath ceremonies for newly sworn and returning members.
Mayor Clement led the recognition of Brandon Goodman and then administered the oath to Bob Curtin, who was sworn in as a council member. Anne Peterson was sworn in as a returning council member. Mayor Clement said he looked forward to continuing work with the newly seated council.
Council also moved to appoint Councilman Curtin as the town’s alternate representative to the Sandhills Metropolitan Planning Organization (SMPO); the council approved that appointment. The council confirmed its 2026 calendar and discussed an earlier budget retreat date so staff have time to implement follow-up items.
What happens next: Curtin will serve as alternate to the SMPO; new council members will assume committee assignments and agendas will reflect updated membership.
