Contra Costa recognizes Workforce Development Month; board hears impact numbers

Tamia Brown, executive director of the Workforce Development Board, noted 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the nationwide observance and said the local board served more than 3,222 businesses and provided career services to about 8,800 individuals in the most recent fiscal year cited. Brown highlighted Healthcare Pathways as a major workforce investment and said the board uses public‑private partnerships and grant funds to connect residents to living‑wage jobs.
Supervisors praised the program’s outreach to youth and its role in retraining workers as the county pursues green‑energy economic opportunities. The board did not take any funding action at the meeting; supervisors encouraged continued collaboration between employers, community colleges and workforce programs.
