Sunset council approves storm-water agreement and plot for Sunset Mixed Use Development

Sunset City Council unanimously approved a long-term storm-water management agreement and the plot for the Sunset Mixed Use Development at its Dec. 16 regular meeting.
Council Member Jason Thompson moved to approve the storm-water management agreement; Council Member Smalling seconded and the council voted in favor without recorded opposition. The council then considered the development plot, heard no substantive objections, and approved that vote as well.
Developer Matt Carter was present for both votes and discussed next steps for signing and recording the documents. Carter told the council he expected to secure signatures over the weekend and have the recorded documents by Monday: "I think I'll be able to get everybody's signature by Monday," he said.
Council members who spoke during the consideration framed the approvals as routine steps needed to allow site work and to ensure long-term runoff management for the mixed-use parcel. No amendments or conditions were added at the meeting.
The council also thanked Carter for attending and confirmed that, once recorded, the agreements will allow the city and developer to move forward on engineering and recordation tasks. The mayor expressed appreciation for the preparatory work by staff and the developer.
Procedural note: both votes were taken during the regular agenda and were recorded on the meeting minutes as passed by unanimous voice or roll call as appropriate. The council did not discuss specific permit modifications in public detail during the meeting.
