Council removes term‑limit language for Open Space Advisory Committee to retain expertise

The Midway City Council voted to delete language in Ordinance 2025‑15 that would have limited service to two consecutive four‑year terms for members of the Open Space Advisory Committee.

Staff explained the change came after recent difficulty filling certain committee seats and noted that founding members of the Open Space Advisory Committee — named in staff remarks — bring specialized expertise that would be hard to replace. "We cannot find people to serve on the board of adjustment," Unidentified Speaker 4 said in describing recruitment challenges, and staff urged limited revision to preserve continuity for open‑space work. Council members agreed the change should apply only to the Open Space Advisory Committee (the planning commission and city council were not included), and a motion to delete the limiting sentence passed on a voice/roll call vote with council members present recorded as 'aye.'

Staff will update the municipal code text to remove the sentence that imposed the two‑term limit for the Open Space Advisory Committee and will correct formatting errors in the published code to reflect the council's action.
