Union board approves $717,950 professional development plan for 2024–25

The Union Board of Education approved the district’s professional development (PD) budget and plan for the 2024–25 school year, totaling $717,950 in state, federal and other funding. Miss Grama told the board the plan was developed from a comprehensive needs assessment conducted in April 2024 with teachers, support staff, parents and community partners.

The PD calendar includes five district‑level professional development days, site‑based collaborative time and targeted training for new teachers and math implementation. “Our total budget including state, federal, and other sources of funding is $717,950,” Miss Grama said, noting the figure is roughly half of recent years’ PD funding because one‑time federal COVID relief funds have ended.

Board members asked whether PD requests have been consistent year‑to‑year; Miss Grama said some topics such as classroom culture and professional learning community work have increased in demand. After a motion and second, the board approved the PD budget by roll call.

The plan emphasizes building teacher capacity to sustain classroom initiatives and to support students who pursue both college and career pathways.
