Commissioners hear business-bureau website rollout and discuss facility ADA changes

Mister Burke told the board the county’s newly formed business bureau has set a deadline to roll out an official website and has developed a logo, vision and mission statement to guide the site’s content and design.

Commissioners then turned to rehabilitation of former health-department space. Staff said the planned work is largely cosmetic (paint, carpet and touchups) but discussed whether removing or narrowing some doorways would impede clients who use walkers or wheelchairs. Speaker 2 noted the current exterior doors meet the 36-inch minimum for ADA access but suggested widening five to six doors to about 42 inches to ease transfers from wheelchairs to comfort-room beds and to improve emergency egress. Staff said they would take measurements and obtain quotes to help inform design and cost decisions.
The board directed staff to follow up on quotes and to arrange visits to the program space outside business hours so staff and clients are not disrupted during review. No formal vote on the renovation work was recorded in the minutes.
