Subcommittee backs program to test and help treat private wells for PFAS

The subcommittee voted to report HB 348 (10–0), a bill to create a residential well testing and treatment program targeted at households with economic need, after hearing multiple personal testimonies about PFAS in private wells and support from conservation groups and public-health advocates.

Delegate McLaughlin told the subcommittee HB 348 would establish a residential well water testing and treatment program and a program fund to help homeowners with economic need install point-of-use and point-of-entry filtration systems once contaminants are identified.
