Cornish swears in Rory Nagel, approves minutes and routine bills

Rory Nagel took the oath of office at the Cornish Town Council meeting and was formally sworn in by the presiding chair. Nagel repeated the oath: “I do solemnly swear that I will support, obey and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Utah,” before taking the duties of office.

After the swearing-in, the council reviewed routine business. The mayor moved to approve the July 2 minutes; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Council members then reviewed the bills list and moved to pay the current batch, noting one larger Horrocks engineering charge remained unresolved and would be addressed separately.

Council staff reported on park and utility project bills: Safe Choice Electric charges for restroom power and conduit work, purchase of lifetime park tables, road base and curb work at the park parking lot, and smaller maintenance invoices for mowers and sprinkler parts. Public works staff said paving and finishing work are scheduled to begin shortly; a storage shed will be placed near the restrooms with concrete pads to allow staff to roll chairs and tables directly to the pavilion.

The meeting closed after discussing administrative items, including adding the new clerk to bank accounts and other routine signings. The council adjourned with no executive session scheduled.
