Committee members cautioned that engineering a crossing across the state road would be costly (one councilor and the committee estimated approximately $50,000 for engineering work) and recommended prioritizing signage and safe intersection language to support future grant or engineering efforts rather than committing to a crossing until funding and state approvals are clear.
Chapter 6 (parks, recreation and open space) explicitly references maintaining and upgrading the gun range and strengthening, maintaining and potentially expanding the motocross track; planning staff suggested the committee will refine language and include maps and photographs in the next draft. Council agreed to receive the revised packet in February and to provide staff edits in the meantime.
No formal zoning changes were adopted at the meeting; planning staff distributed copies of the draft and asked councilors to review maps and send any photos or materials that would improve the document prior to finalization.
