Angels Camp allocates $25,000 to special-events support; council directs streamlined application

The Angels Camp City Council approved a $25,000 annual allocation on Sept. 16 to fund a special-events support program intended to reduce barriers for community events and non‑profits.

Amy presented the proposal to establish program parameters and a corresponding application; staff said the program would help cover event-related fees (banner hanging, kitchen use, staff time) and could provide fee waivers or small grants. The proposal spurred extensive public comment from event organizers and business association representatives who urged simplified application requirements and protections so small, volunteer-run events are not excluded.
