Angels Camp adopts multi-year pavement management plan to prioritize repairs

The Angels Camp City Council voted Sept. 16 to accept a multi-year pavement management plan that prioritizes targeted stopgap repairs this year with follow-up surface treatments in subsequent seasons.
Engineering staff presented maps showing pavement-condition ratings across the city and recommended a two-step approach: contractors will grind and patch failing segments in the initial stopgap project (about 5.5 centerline miles) and, if funding permits, the city would return in a following year for slurry-seal or micro-surfacing that can prolong surface life for seven to 10 years. Staff said combining similar work types across streets will yield better unit pricing from contractors.
Council members asked about inclusion of Vallecito Road, noting heavy use and fast degradation; staff agreed to survey and add it to the inventory for future inclusion. On budget contingencies, staff said they would return to council if bids exceeded expectations and explained options to scale back limits or borrow from future year allocations.
Council adopted the staff recommendation and passed a resolution accepting the pavement management plan on a roll call vote.
