Subcommittee approves routine resolutions on roads, RIDE groupings, playground funding and airport project transfer

Staff recommended adding newly completed roads in Edgefield Phase 1A to the county maintenance system after finding them built to county standards; the committee moved to accept staff’s recommendation.
On the RIDE referendum implementation, staff presented groupings of the 200 miles of dirt roads listed in the referendum and the suggested order for project execution and payment; the committee approved the groupings and authorized moving forward in the order presented.
Parks staff requested a resolution to establish the Carolina Forest playground replacement as a capital project and to authorize transfers from the recreation lifecycle maintenance account and park impact fees. Parks staff said the 2010 playground is at the end of its useful life and needs replacement; the committee approved the transfer authorization.
Airport staff requested a transfer of $23,300,000 from an older Taxiway B rehabilitation project to a Runway reconstruction project that currently has a $65,000,000 balance; staff said the FAA’s Atlanta office is working to secure grant funding and the committee approved that transfer.
Finally the committee approved a resolution honoring the Coastal Carolina Association of Realtors on its 80th anniversary and recognized the association’s role in local housing and real estate data services.
Votes: All four budget/resolution items were approved by voice vote as recorded in the meeting.
What happens next: Staff will implement the approved transfers and sequencing and continue coordination with municipalities and grant offices where applicable.
