Codington County emergency management reports ice‑dive training and readiness work

He told commissioners staff will seek permission to apply for a Homeland Security grant (application window stated in the meeting as Feb. 2–March 20) and noted ongoing efforts to maintain rosters for weather spotters, LEPC contacts and fire departments.
“People were able to get good reps in the water, multiple reps,” Delgado said of the ice‑dive class, and he emphasized that the training reinforced operational planning and safety practices that will benefit the county in the event of a critical incident.
The board thanked search‑and‑rescue volunteers for their “amazing commitment” to the community. Staff noted follow‑up reporting and quarterly submissions to state agencies are underway as required by emergency‑management procedures. Commissioners did not take formal action on the report but asked staff to remain engaged in grant application timelines and training coordination.
