Adrian authorizes temporary sidewalk contract with Rock Hard Concrete

The Adrian City Commission on July 7 approved Resolution R25-041 authorizing Rock Hard Concrete of Adrian, Michigan to temporarily take over the C1-23 sidewalk contract until the city can solicit new bids.
Engineering staff reported the 2023 contractor notified the city it could not fulfill its obligations. Rock Hard Concrete agreed to hold the existing unit prices so the city can continue remaining work and rebid for the next season. Engineering described the arrangement as temporary while the city seeks competitive pricing for future contracts.
A motion (moved by Commissioner Casselberry; seconds recorded from Commissioners Miller and Roberts) carried on a roll-call vote with all commissioners voting yes. Commissioners noted completed work on the Maumee Street bridge ramps as an example of recent sidewalk/curb improvements. No dollar amounts were presented at the meeting; staff said the temporary contractor would hold the same pricing structure until rebid.
