Adrian honors Align Center for Workforce Development after ribbon-cutting
Summary
The Adrian City Commission presented a proclamation recognizing the Align Center for Workforce Development’s new East Church Street location and its workforce training programs, including a certified flooring class whose graduates secured jobs before completing the program.
Mayor Angela Sore Heath presented a proclamation congratulating the Align Center for Workforce Development on its grand opening and new facility at 440 East Church Street.
Ron Griffith, interim executive director of the Align Center, told the commission the satellite campus initially opened while renovations were under way and described workforce offerings including flooring, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and IT training. Griffith said the center partnered with the National Flooring Association and National Flooring Foundation to secure roughly $50,000 in equipment and $2,500 in scholarships; he added 11 students completed the initial flooring certification and were employed before graduation.
Griffith invited commissioners to visit the facility and promoted the center’s second annual back-to-school event on Aug. 7, which he said drew 450 attendees last year. The commission recognized the Align Center with the proclamation and thanked staff for the work on the program.
The commission moved on to its scheduled informational presentations following the proclamation.
