Committee adopts amendment and reports out engineers‑registration bill after debate

In executive action late in the Jan. 21 meeting, the Consumer Protection & Business Committee considered House Bill 22‑29, which revises the Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors Registration Act. Staff said the bill updates minimum experience requirements, continuing professional development, exclusions and suspensions, and terminology. The committee considered one amendment (Clod407) that restores the board’s current name and voted to adopt it.
Vice Chair Hackney moved that the bill be reported out of committee with a 'do pass' recommendation and moved to incorporate amendment Clod407. The amendment was adopted by voice vote. The committee then voted to report the substitute bill out; roll call recorded 8 ayes, 6 nays and 1 excused. Members who voted aye or nay were read into the record by name.
