The committee heard a short staff briefing and initial testimony on Senate Bill 59‑41, which would direct the State Building Code Council to amend the energy code by Jan. 1, 2027, to exempt eligible school districts (those with 1,000 or fewer students located in the central/eastern climate zone) from an on‑site renewable energy‑generation requirement for new commercial buildings or large additions.
