During budget review on Jan. 29, Speaker 1 announced the town has been awarded a $1,092,000 federal grant to support ultraviolet (UV) treatment at the wastewater treatment plant. Staff present clarified the project and related capital are supported within the sewer fund and do not provide general‑fund relief.
"We are officially getting that $1,092,000 grant from the feds for the UV treatment," Speaker 1 said. Staff and board members characterized the award as a positive step for wastewater infrastructure and noted the grant funds will be used for user‑supported system upgrades. Implementation steps and grant administration will be handled through the wastewater treatment department and reported in detail to the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance as appropriate.
