State law allows absentee ballots postmarked on election day to arrive up to noon the Friday after the election; the county waited to process those until the state released guidance on same‑day registrations and provisional ballots. Turk said the state processes same‑day registrations over the weekend to identify duplicates across jurisdictions, and only after that release could counties officially finalize and post certified results.
