Council reviewed bids Nov. 4 for the West Interceptor Segment 2 project and authorized staff to accept the low bidder and finalize the contract.
Bill Ball of Burgess & Niple reported the city received six bids; the review committee scored Guijo Construction as the top-ranked bidder and Guijo submitted the low bid at $3,315,089.38 compared with an engineer’s estimate of $4,066,000. Staff said the price is below budget and recommended awarding the contract to Guijo. Council noted a tight timeline tied to contractual obligations with the Caliterra development and authorized staff to execute the contract so work could start as early as December or January.
A council motion to accept Guijo Construction as the bidder and authorize staff to finalize the agreement was made and seconded; council approved the motion by voice vote. Staff indicated a notice to proceed could be issued on December 1 to meet the project schedule.
