Harrison council approves CIC ordinance, requests liquor-license hearing and clears routine business

Harrison City Council met Feb. 6 and approved several administrative items, authorized an ordinance creating a formal relationship with the Harrison Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), and voted to request a hearing from the Ohio Division of Liquor Control on a new liquor-license application for Jack’s Investments 3 LLC at 1195 Stone Drive.
Council first approved the minutes from the Jan. 16, 2018 meeting and approved purchase orders that had been circulated to members. The council also approved the executive-session minutes from Jan. 16.
On a separate motion, council voted to request a hearing on the Jack’s Investments 3 LLC liquor-license application. "So we will submit the paperwork to request a hearing," the clerk said after the motion passed; the clerk added that members will be notified when the hearing date is set. The city’s stated reason for requesting a hearing was uncertainty about the number of available licenses and a desire not to forfeit the right to comment if the applicant’s property status changes.
Council also voted to adopt an ordinance designating the Harrison Community Improvement Corporation as an agency of the city and authorized execution of an agreement with the agency. The clerk recorded the ordinance as "Ordinance 1 to 2018." Council discussion on the CIC item was brief and the ordinance motion passed on roll call.
