Jenkins said the county’s ordinance carries forward previous local amendments and consolidates WUI-related provisions now collected in the new state code. He said the recommended actions included finding the updates are necessary due to local climatic and topographical conditions and that the ordinance is exempt from CEQA.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. After brief board remarks, a motion to approve the ordinance and waive the second reading passed on a roll-call voice vote recorded in the minutes as unanimous.
The board directed county fire staff to file the adopted ordinances and findings with the California Building Standards Commission and asked the clerk to publish the ordinance in accordance with the government code provision cited by staff. The action affects the unincorporated areas of Stanislaus County and updates county code chapters referenced by staff to reflect the state’s 2025 Title 24 editions.
