Waterfront shuttle and health-center capital requests earn support from local groups

Summary
Friends of Waterfront Park asked the committee to protect $500,000 for the waterfront shuttle; the Tubman Center and Center for Wooden Boats also asked for capital support for projects they say will serve many Seattle residents and visitors.
Joy Shigaki, president and CEO of Friends of Waterfront Park, asked the committee to "please protect $500,000 in the Office of Economic Development for support for the waterfront shuttle," saying the funding keeps a frequent, accessible connector running between light rail, ferries, Pike Place Market and the aquarium.
Jarvis Henderson of the Tubman Center for Health and Freedom said the center aims to expand capacity with a planned South End capital project and requested council support for capital costs tied to sidewalks and street improvements. Josh Anderson of the Center for Wooden Boats asked for $1,000,000 to enhance Lake Union Park ahead of large events such as FIFA World Cup watch parties in 2026.
These capital and operating-transportation requests were delivered alongside dozens of other public comments on homelessness and rental assistance; the committee did not take votes on these requests during the hearing.
