The presentation noted that 11 of 12 grades met or exceeded annual growth measures in the most recent reporting cycle and that about 20% of students take at least one college course as part of dual-enrollment opportunities.
Multiple parents, students and alumni spoke in support of renewal, offering testimony about personalized instruction and student supports. Teacher Andy Cardona described community service and student engagement programs; a recent graduate said TLC prepared her for college.
Board members asked specific follow-up questions before final action: how enrollment and transfer windows are managed, student–teacher ratios (approximately 25:1 in secondary; ~22:1 in primary), the school’s strategy for addressing math performance, and the number of teachers and aides. Staff and the presenters agreed the item could proceed as a first reading, and trustees requested comparative performance data against similar schools and district averages prior to a final vote.
No final vote on renewal was recorded at the meeting; trustees requested that staff return with disaggregated data and recommendations before the item advances to a final decision.
