Kossuth County, Feb. 5 — The Board of Supervisors took several formal actions during Thursday’s session.
Longevity policy: The board approved a new longevity policy for county employees after staff presented the final policy document. Supervisor Garmin moved to approve the policy and Supervisor Wagner seconded; the board voted by voice and the chair announced “Motion carried.” (Motion recorded at the meeting as moved by Garmin and seconded by Wagner.)
Saturated‑buffer bid: The county received state approval to proceed with a saturated‑buffer project. Staff reported bids were taken Jan. 20 and the low bid from BNS Tile Excavating LLC (Lake City) for $108,102.21 was acceptable to the state program and county staff recommended approval. A motion to accept the bid was made, seconded, and carried by the board.
DD80 informational hearing: The board formally opened an informational meeting for Drainage District 80, Lots 10 and 70, with a motion by Garmin and second by Becker followed by roll‑call votes. After the engineer’s presentation and public discussion, the board moved to close the informational meeting by motion of Stecker and recorded a roll‑call closing vote.
No other formal ordinances or zoning repeals were adopted at this meeting; the board agreed to forward the solar/zoning draft to Planning & Zoning to solicit recommendations on setbacks and fees before returning to the board for final action.
