NET Recovery asks Franklin County for opioid‑fund allocation; magistrates request data and a formal proposal

Rebecca Mech, community liaison for NET Recovery, stopped into the fiscal court Jan. 7 to report she was filming testimonials and to offer information about the program.
"We could definitely put the information that I had presented into a document and get that to you guys," Mech said, and she said the testimonials cover people from many backgrounds and multiple substances. Several magistrates asked how many Franklin County residents were seeking the NET device and requested pre‑ and post‑treatment numbers, capacity estimates and a written funding request tied to the county’s opioid funds.
Squire Witsman and Squire Tanner said they remembered prior discussion of $20 (people) as an illustrative service goal and urged that NET Recovery return with a committee presentation and a clear ‘‘ask’’ for the court to consider during budget deliberations. A magistrate cautioned on public reporting: "We have to be very, very careful about the information that they have out," noting concerns about privacy and accuracy.
The court did not take formal action on the request during the meeting; magistrates directed Mech to prepare documentation and a proposal for a committee or future meeting so the court can consider a specific allocation from opioid funds.
