Becca, a county department staff member overseeing solid-waste matters, told commissioners the county has paused the petitioning process for solicitation of landfill capacity while staff complete a thorough review of a draft assessment and scoring of responding landfills.
"We have paused the petitioning process for solicitation of landfill capacity," Becca said, adding her initial review indicates the county appears to have adequate landfill capacity but that the draft assessment lacks "grama support" in places. She said she will complete a detailed review this week and publish the draft for public view, the solid waste advisory committee and municipalities.
No funding changes, vendor awards or timelines for any next procurement steps were provided at the meeting. Becca said the draft assessment and scoring will be posted on the department’s website and shared with stakeholders within about a week, and she invited questions from commissioners.
The commission did not take a vote on procurement at the meeting; staff characterized the item as an administrative pause pending review.
