Vinita council adopts Bank of Oklahoma corporate card plan and fee schedule to streamline purchasing

The Vinita City Council on Feb. 3 approved a corporate-card agreement with Bank of Oklahoma and a tied fee schedule intended to reduce check-writing, printing and postage costs for the city.
The clerk’s office described how current processes require numerous checks to be printed and mailed and that the Bank of Oklahoma program offers card controls and a vendor-payment service that could reduce those costs. “Their cards are able to be earmarked or streamlined for very specific items that can only be used for gas or for…what it is that you are requesting,” the clerk said during the presentation.
Councilmember Wofford moved to approve the corporate-card agreement and Councilmember Tyler seconded; the council approved the agreement by voice vote. The council also approved the related fee schedule in a separate motion and voice vote. Staff said the changes are expected to reduce paper and postage expenditures over time and to centralize purchasing controls.
The council did not adopt implementation details at the meeting; staff will return with administrative procedures and any follow-up needed to assign department cards and controls.
