Five bids opened for Curry Pike Reconstruction Phase 1; engineer estimate about $610,000

County highway staff opened five sealed bids for the Curry Pike Reconstruction Phase 1 project during the Feb. 5 Monroe County Board of Commissioners meeting.
"So we have received 5 bids," said Miss Ridge, who then read the submissions aloud: Milestone — $799,770; Morphy Construction — $11,290,000; DC Construction — $679,428.75; E & B Paving — $683,560; and a final bidder listed at $923,733. Miss Ridge said the engineer estimate for the project was $609,993.75.
Miss Ridge told the board the bids will be presented to the County Redevelopment Commission on Feb. 18 and that the commissioners would consider awarding the contract at their Feb. 26 meeting, if appropriate. The board took the opening under advisement and did not award a contract at the Feb. 5 session.
The bids as read to the record include a wide spread between the lowest and highest offers; county staff said they will take the bids under advisement and follow procurement and RDC review procedures before any award.
