County staff outline AI policy work and website ADA refresh

Staff said a small focus group has drafted an AI policy that includes governance, security review of tools, employee training and an acknowledgment process. The policy aims to ensure human oversight of AI outputs and to reduce risk from inaccurate or 'hallucinated' results. Commissioners asked how tools would be vetted and whether the county would standardize on any vendor; staff said the draft will recommend criteria for acceptable tools and security standards rather than a single mandated vendor.
On the website, staff said they plan to relaunch a refreshed county website in April or May and to make content and PDFs ADA‑compliant to meet Department of Justice accessibility expectations. The IT team also reported near completion of an M365 deployment and work on internal employee benefit portals and election‑year support for elections staff.
Commissioners urged specificity on implementation timelines and suggested bringing a commissioner liaison into policy discussions as the policy and handbook changes move forward.
