The commission voted 5–0 to recommend a text amendment that would permit murals in Neighborhood Business (NB) and Community Facility (CF) districts; staff said the change would bring the Association for Individual Development's recent mural into compliance.

Elgin planning staff asked the Planning & Zoning Commission on Feb. 2 to recommend a text amendment allowing murals in NB (Neighborhood Business) and CF (Community Facility) zoning districts. Staff said murals were previously permitted in CC1, CC2 and AB districts and the amendment is intended to allow community organizations and neighborhood businesses to request mural permits in additional districts.
