"I just think it's really important that we urge everybody in the state of Georgia... make sure that they put together some type of celebration," Cox said, identifying local historical connections he represents.
The committee heard no substantive opposition. A motion to pass HR 999 was made, seconded, and approved by voice vote; the resolution will move forward in the rules process. Sponsors said they expect local governments and community groups to lead celebrations if the resolution proceeds.
