The Village of Itasca on Nov. 19 approved a FY24 computer replacement project in the amount of $33,150.45 to replace 11 village computers as part of a planned PC-replacement cycle.
Trustee Powers presented the project and said roughly $20,000 of the total is for hardware; the remainder covers enhanced networks labor for migration and configuration. Several trustees questioned the labor estimate, noting it seemed high on a per-device basis; a staff member explained that enhanced networks labor includes migrating user data, configuring scanning and GIS programs, and ensuring each machine is fully operational after switchover. Trustee Medeiros recorded a vote against the purchase; the motion carried on roll call.
The project continues a multiyear replacement plan intended to avoid ad-hoc failures and keep devices compatible with Windows 11 and other software.
Next steps: procurement and scheduling with the contracted vendor will proceed under the village's existing purchasing contract and IT staff will coordinate the deployments.
