Council approves design-build contracting for historic Springfield Depot
After a public hearing with multiple supporters, the council adopted a resolution authorizing a design-build alternative contracting method and exempting the depot deferred-maintenance project from competitive bidding (vote 5–0).

City staff asked the council to allow an alternative contracting method (design‑build) for deferred exterior maintenance on the historic Springfield Depot and an adjacent Southern Pacific railcar. Staff said design‑build would help coordinate preservation, land‑use review and construction while the building remains occupied.
