A firefighter at the meeting described the operational benefit: with multiple sets of gear, crews can launder one set and immediately return another to service. The presenter explained that PFAS exposure is reduced with encapsulated liners and said the new gear provides protection unless the outer shell is physically cut apart.
Vice president Kaiser of the Relief Association attended, and several department members were introduced. Council members emphasized the significance of the purchase — roughly eight years' worth of the department's typical annual turnout‑gear purchases — and formally acknowledged the donation during the meeting.
