Planning board approves housing amendment and launches redevelopment study for former Exxon site

At its Feb. 5 meeting the Clark Township Planning Board approved a resolution amending the township’s fourth‑round housing and fair‑share plan and separately authorized a preliminary investigation to determine whether 737 Raritan Road (Block 34 Lot 25.01, described in the record as the old Exxon site) qualifies as an area in need of non‑condemnation redevelopment.

The amendment to the fourth‑round housing plan was brought forward as part of the agenda package and approved on a roll‑call vote after the chair asked for any questions or comments and none were raised. The board then voted to authorize a redevelopment study for the Raritan Road property; council and board members noted this vote initiates a preliminary investigation but does not itself adopt a redevelopment plan.

Both resolutions referenced in‑package materials and were approved with conditions and follow‑up consistent with normal planning board procedure. The board recorded the votes by roll call; the chair announced each resolution approved. No public testimony opposed either resolution during the meeting.
