Solitude reports avalanche-control towers, mountain-bike trail and 10,500-foot snowmaking pipeline in progress

Ian Riddell, director of planning and projects for Solitude Mountain Resort, presented the resort’s seasonal operations and construction update to the Brighton Town Council.
Riddell said the resort recently installed four additional remote avalanche-control towers in Honeycomb Canyon, "which doubles the amount of towers we have in there," and described the towers as improving worker and public safety by allowing remote avalanche initiation. He also described a new mountain-bike trail tied to the Moonbeam Lift that could be ridden by late September or early October.
The largest project under construction is a snowmaking pipeline running from below Twin Lakes Reservoir back to the resort’s pump house. "It's about 10 and a half thousand feet long," Riddell said; he reported the trenching and pipeline installation are roughly 50% complete and that more difficult sections requiring blasting were scheduled in the coming days.
Riddell asked for patience with trail closures and construction noise; the resort and town staff said they would post updates to social channels.
