MSD outlines Brighton-specific special-event permit process; council to receive SOP

MSD staff presented an overview of a revised special-event permitting process and the town’s plan to stand up a Brighton-specific special-events permit in CityWorks.
Dan (MSD staff) said the intent is to make the process more user-friendly and to require applicants to pull permits from relevant jurisdictions—town roads (MSD), UDOT, county sheriff’s office or Forest Service depending on location—and submit supporting materials such as site plans, traffic-control plans and participant counts. "We are standing up a Brighton specific, events special events permit," he said.
Staff said they will coordinate with other agencies, recommend an SOP for intake and front-end notification to the council clerk, and seek to develop an events calendar to avoid conflicts among large events and ensure emergency-responder capacity. They suggested starting a committee meeting to review the first season’s experience and report back by email or at a future council meeting.
