Committee advances multiple bills in package aimed at Mexican wolf and predator policy despite strong opposition from conservation groups

The Rural Affairs Committee advanced HB 21-58, HB 21-59, HB 27-87 and HCM 2006 — measures that would reclassify apex carnivores as predators, allow landowner permits for Mexican gray wolves, bar state cooperation with federal wolf reintroduction programs, and ask Congress to reform the Endangered Species Act — after hours of testimony from Game and Fish, ranchers, conservation groups and animal-welfare organizations.
