Berkeley County board approves agenda; corrects four parcel assessments

The Berkeley County Board of Review and Equalization opened its session with routine business and approved the meeting agenda by voice vote. Shortly after, staff presented four corrections to the assessor's roll for tax year 2026 and the board approved those changes.
Assessor staff said the changes addressed clerical or classification errors. Staff reported one parcel (Betty Wilson) had its current assessment reduced from 90,900 to 10,200 because it had been keyed incorrectly; another parcel for Laurel Murray had an adjustment related to residual land associated with a residence; parcels for Ishmael Sanchez and Donna Parsons were reclassified to "owner occupied," which altered their classification though not the assessed value in one case.
A motion to approve the assessor's roll corrections was made, seconded and carried by a recorded voice vote. Board staff requested that the minutes include parcel-level details for the record.
The board also heard a staff update that four appeals are pending with the state Office of Tax Appeals; two cases were referred for state tax rulings and two are being worked locally with anticipated conference calls scheduled the next two Wednesdays.
The meeting recessed later in the afternoon after multiple public presentations and department budget briefs.
