Committee adopts amendment and reports out bill banning paper‑document fees

The Judiciary Committee adopted Amendment 1 (effective date Jan. 1, 2027) to House Bill 20 (prohibiting fees for paper documents) and, with no objection, reported the bill out of committee with individual recommendations and an attached fiscal note.

The House Judiciary Committee on Feb. 4 took a second hearing on House Bill 20, which would prohibit charging fees for paper documents. Representative Dan Sadler, sponsor of HB20, attended the hearing and expressed support for an amendment offered by Representative Gray that sets the bill’s effective date.
