Council backs 'Clearview Legacy Center' name, asks for inclusive plaque program
After multiple speakers urged honoring generations of community contributors, the committee agreed to forward a resolution to name the Clearview Park clubhouse the Clearview Legacy Center and to develop a legacy project (plaques/portraits) that recognizes many people who sustained the park.

At the Feb. 10 work session, the committee considered how to name the recently renovated Clearview Park clubhouse. Councilman Carter proposed naming the facility for Samuel G. Herod in recognition of decades of service; several residents and speakers — including Gail Walker, Brenda Dodson and Bishop Clark — supported honoring Samuel Herod but recommended an inclusive approach that recognizes multiple contributors who maintained and supported the park for generations.
