Summary
Quakertown students in the NASA National Science Honor Society described membership requirements and community-service plans and said they will host a STEM night for elementary students on May 12 at QE. The club has 16 new inductees and requires four hours of service from members.
The student activities committee heard a monthly spotlight from the NASA National Science Honor Society on Feb. 11, where club leaders described membership rules and community outreach plans.
The adviser and student leaders told the committee that members must have completed two upper‑level science classes (honors, AP or dual enrollment), maintain at least a 3.0 grade‑point average and submit two science‑teacher recommendations. "We have 16 new inductees this year," a student leader said, and 11 returning members were also listed.
Inducted students must complete four hours of community service. Club representatives said the 2026 community‑service project will be a STEM night for elementary‑age students on May 12 at QE, staffed by high‑school students running interactive tables designed to introduce younger children to science.
"We're just in the beginning parts of organizing and planning, so flyers to come," a student said, describing interactive exhibits such as a hands‑on candy model of DNA to help younger students learn basic concepts.
Committee members welcomed the outreach and asked to receive flyers and materials for distribution. The committee asked that publicity materials be sent to the district board email, Board@qcsd.org, once they are ready.
The committee did not take formal action on the presentation; the spotlight was informational and intended to increase board awareness of student activities and planned outreach.
