Franklin County mayor highlights library summer programs and services

Mayor Chris Guest visited the Franklin County Library in a Friday video update to highlight the library’s summer offerings and public services.
Teddi Stevens, identified in the video as the library director (and referred to on-screen as 'Tina'), said the library’s summer reading program — billed as “Adventure Begins at your library” — is open to children ages 2 and up and includes a slate of family-focused activities this summer. “That is our summer reading program,” Stevens said.
Stevens thanked local donors for supporting the program, specifically naming Nissan for its annual donation that helps the library stage summer programming. She listed recent and planned events, including a Kona Ice demonstration, a visit from the Winchester Fire Department with water activities, animal programs, a Tims Ford State Park presentation featuring reptiles, and an upcoming Janet’s Planet science program scheduled for July.
Stevens urged residents to visit FranklinCountyLibrary.org and the library’s Facebook page for schedules and details. She also described available services at the library: faxing, scanning, copying, laminating, on-site notary service and simplified library-card signups, plus multiple apps that provide digital streaming of movies, television shows, magazines and e-books in addition to physical books.
On circulation, Stevens said the library is seeing strong usage, reciting a spoken figure that the library is “approaching nearly, 9, 10000 items a month” in checked-out items; the phrasing in the video is unclear and the exact monthly total was not specified.
Mayor Guest used the segment to remind residents that county government provides resources intended for public benefit and encouraged people to make use of library programs.
