Rules Committee hears revenue, gaming-audit and HR reports; tax receipts up 20.85% year over year

During the Dec. 15 Rules Committee meeting, department leaders delivered standard reports on revenue, gaming oversight and human resources.
Sharon Sweeps of the Tax Commission told the committee that, comparing October this year to October last year, tribal receipts were up 20.85% and retail and alcohol sales were up 11.52%. She agreed to provide additional detail on at-large car-tag applications and rebate figures at council request.
Audrey Imhoff of the Gaming Commission reported that the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES) completed annual inspections and a licensing audit of tribal casinos and found games, inventory and signage in compliance with the compact; licensing files and suitability determinations for employees and vendors met requirements and no audit findings were reported.
Samantha Hendricks of Human Resources said the department added an applicant-and-candidate experience supervisor to improve application intake and follow-up; staff contacted about 150 applicants in a recent weekend and the HR team aims to respond within 24 hours.
The committee offered praise for staff performance and asked for follow-up data where appropriate. No formal votes were attached to these reports.
