Marjorie Callan Carson, chair of the community and public relations committee and member of the building committee, reported progress on the district’s school construction work at Monday’s Board of Education workshop.
She said the building committee finalized RFQs for the construction manager and owner’s project manager (OPM) and scheduled interviews for April 1, with the goal of recommending both roles to the Board of Education together. The committee is coordinating with municipal departments: TSKP has already scheduled meetings with police, fire, IT, school security, inland wetlands, engineering and custodial staff to gather operational input for designs.
Callan Carson also said the committee is modeling sites and developing educational specifications and topography plans. The committee anticipates presenting a recommended team to the board, possibly requiring a special meeting, but prefers to avoid additional meetings by aligning approvals.
The board discussed improving public communications about the project, including an updated web page and periodic newsletters to inform residents about timeline, frequently asked questions and opportunities for feedback.
