Board denies special‑use request for RV parking at Sherry Lane property

The Meriwether County Board of Commissioners voted on Feb. 9 to deny Case PC25‑14, a special‑use request by James Leonard for RV parking or placement of three manufactured/mobile homes at 140 Sherry Lane.

Planning staff told the board that a third‑party resource, Sharon Bolden, indicated she could provide three donated manufactured homes at no cost if the applicant chose that route, but the applicant was not present at the hearing and staff could not confirm his preferences. Commissioners discussed whether the existing ordinance allows RVs on the property and whether existing on‑site electrical hookups (50‑amp breakers referenced by a speaker) would need to be changed to meet building permits and state standards. Planning staff said any placement would require building permits and inspections to assure state and local code compliance.

After public hearing and board questions, a commissioner moved to deny the request to allow RVs on the property. The motion was seconded and the board indicated its assent.
