Arlington County outlines Clark–Bell Street realignment, new 10‑foot trail and future park in Crystal City

Speaker 1, a staff member, outlined the Clark–Bell Street realignment project in Crystal City, saying the plan will bring South Clark Street and South Bell Street together at 15th Street South and add a new traffic signal. "The Clark Bell Street realignment project will bring the 2 streets together at 15th Street South and add a new traffic signal," the speaker said.

The project also includes reconfiguring 14th Street South to connect with Crystal Drive and adding bike-safety upgrades at the intersection of 15th Street South with both Clark–Bell Street and Crystal Drive. "The project will also add new bike safety features here at the intersection of 15th Street South and Clark Bell Street and at the intersection of 15th Street South and Crystal Drive," the speaker said.

A 10-foot‑wide multiuse trail is planned along Clark and Bell Streets between 12th Street South and 18th Street South. "The project will also add a 10 foot wide multi use trail along Clark And Bell Streets between 12th Street South and 18th Street South," the speaker said, and added that the trail "continues the county's efforts in completing the Crystal City bike network." County officials framed the design as multimodal, intended to serve people driving, walking, biking and taking transit through the area.

The speaker said the redesign will "help fill in the transportation grid for Crystal City" and that the project will lay groundwork for a future park on 15th Street South to be designed by Arlington County's Department of Parks and Recreation. The announcement included a construction timeline: construction is expected to be completed in 2027.
